ARRLのホームページから「Trusted QSL」（TQSL 2.4.3）をダウンロードしてPCにインストール。
※Apple MacOS(OS X)用も用意されており、Macユーザーにはとても助かる。

ソフトウエアを起動して「コールサイン証明書」メニューから「新しいコールサイン証明書をリクエスト」を選択。
画面指示に従って、コールサイン、運用開始日、氏名、住所、eメールアドレス、パスワード等の情報を入力し保存。これで自動的にコールサイン証明書要求ファイル（TQ5 file）がLoTWにアップロードされる。
なお、ここで登録するパスワード（省略可能）は、TQSL用（ソフトウエア用）であり、LoTWのログインで用いるものとは異なる。万一、忘れてしまった場合、再発行できないので注意。

本人確認のため、ARRLに無線局免許状と運転免許証などの氏名・住所が判る公的証明書のコピーを送付し、ARRLからeメールで「暗証キー」（TQ6 file）を入手する。今回、公的証明書として無線従事者免許証を用いたが、住所が記載されていないので避けた方が無難かもしれなかった。
なお、これまではコピーを直接郵送して受け付けを行なっていたようだが、ARRLのホームページ（以下）にeメールでの送付も可能な旨の記載があったので、pdfファイルを作成して送付した。
※念のため免許状の番号などはマスキングしておく。
その後、1ヶ月ほど経っても音沙汰がないのでメールで問い合わせたところ、LoTW administratorから、メールアドレスのスペルミスのために送れていなかったが、対処したので送付するとの連絡があり、その日のうちにシステムから暗証キー（ファイル名：JA1***.tq6）送られてきた。メールのやり取りは以下のとおり。

Your request was processed on December 3, but you mis-spelled your email address, so it went to the wrong place.
I corrected your address and told the system to send it again.
You should receive the email from the system with your TQ6 file attached later today.

トラブルがなければ最初のメールから1週間ほどで暗証キーが受領できたかもしれない。ちなみにシステムからのメール本文中（以下）にLoTWのWebSiteにアクセス（=サービスを利用する）ためのuser name（=call sign）とpasswordが記載されている。

今回、174QSO'sをLoTWにアップロードした結果、マッチング（QSL）できたのは98局であった。
2018 CQ WW DX CW Contestで交信した北アフリカのEF8R（Canary Islands)やカリブ海のPJ4A（Bonarie）が早くもConfirmできており、便利さを実感した。WAZアワードで見ると22/40程度の進捗であり、DXCCを含めこの先長い道のりであること（現状）がよく判った。

再びTQSLを起動し「コールサイン証明書」メニューから暗証キーを読み込んで保存。その後「局の所在地」メニューから「新しい局の所在地を作成」を選択し、画面表示に従って情報を入力して保存。

Turbo HAM LOGでログデータを入力し抽出したADIF(Amateur Data Interchange Format)ファイルをアップロード。
